Then this is a typical stoneware brewery mug. They are not normally valuable; but, some people collect them. They are great for drinking beer out of. Ones with pewter lids cost more. Berliner Kindl, which means little Berlin kid, is a brand of beer. It's not imported here much if at all, so the mug is unusual in that respect, but it is known as a fine beer. What you describe is their logo, found on their beer bottle labels. I don't think it will be possible to determine the age of the mug. The stoneware used to be made in Germany but now often in the orient. If you compared the stein to known ones the feel of the pottery might tell you which it is.
