Could this Stein be classified as "Jugendstil' or was it produced too late ?. It is fairly traditional in shape and the decoration is quite plain when compared with the the free form Art Nouveau style. I suppose the design world was was moving into the 'Art Deco' period at the time (1920's) with it's more simplistic geometric designs so this may have been an influence on it's decoration. Can I assume that the lack of a factory mark or country of origin on the base coupled with the engraving on the lid mean that this stein was intended for the home market (Germany) only and not for export ?. Is anyone familiar with this type of decoration and could they identify a possible factory or region where this may have been produced ?. Thanks in advance, Julian.
