I notice that the lid in the Beer Stein library also looks beat up and ill fitting. Do you think that was the original? Clare's broken lid is in a style that I thought from my steins was from the 1950's and 60's. Would they have had that style back when this stein was made? Clare - broken lids are a big deal because getting a repair is so difficult and expensive it's almost out of the question for all but the most valuable steins.
