DBGM and this type of hinge is often seen on steins from the 1950's to 70's or so. If there is no maker's mark it will be hard to get more specific. There is a chance you will see one exactly like it on Ebay some day that still has the importer's or the maker's paper sticker on it. As for drinking out of it, that should be quite safe. But to be extra safe, if you have a small child don't let it chew on the lid. Plastic steins are safer for small children.
