Jackie, I believe Dan to be correct when saying it is authentic. However, without the lid it will never be original. Replacement lids can be had, with appropriate finial, and some regimental collectors will even balk at that. As for The Stein Auction Company, they are a major source of all kinds of steins for collectors.
