Given the clearly antagonistic tone of your posting, it was easy enough to conclude that a response would likely serve no useful purpose, so I had intended to simply let other readers reach their own conclusions. However, this morning I received an email from another SCI member who, in addition to transmitting 15 D&B photographs, also raised a question about the Beer Stein Library membership fee, albeit in a manner far more likely to promote discussion and understanding. I've reproduced the relevant portion of my response to him below, not so much for you Jim, but for others who might be open to hearing both sides of the story. (In light of the SteinTalk 2000 character limit, that response is, of necessity, contained in a subsequent posting.)
