I have recently happened upon something I believe to by somewhat unique. It is a Pewter lided salt glazed stein. that has the grey pottery and unique Grape and leaf design on front of the stein with Cobalt colored leaf and vines and manganese grape hanging from vine. (i havent seen a pattern out there yet like it) The Bottom of this stein has in a circle Merkelbach Goebel W. Germany Salzglasur. it also has a lightly stamped number 1/01 and then 2 numbers you can tell were carved into pottery at 2 different times as the stein was cooling. Deep impression 482117 D or i guess it could be 482/14 D and then a lighter later set 72. I believe this to be one of the limited number pieces that were made in the Merkelbach Goebel acquisition in the 1970's 1980's, But I cannot find out any information. I would like to know where or how i might identify this stein further and or where to find more information on Merkelbach Goebel as this might give me more information as well.
