Tom, Form 146 is not shown in the Thewalt catalog on The Beer Stein Library, but I am confident it is an early Thewalt. The reproductions were based on the original molds (they are normally marked Original Thewalt, along with the Grenzau mark), but not necessarily made from the original molds. If a new mold was made from the old mold, this could account for the size difference. Thewalt bought a mold at a flea market for the sailor stein. He made a new mold from the old mold. Thus a Thewalt Sailor stein will be smaller than the original 1821 Sailor stein. I am sure Albert can confirm this for you. Ron
