The lid on Mettlach stein #2123 (Schlitt's Drinking Knight) reads: "Bonumet multum – stets das Quantum". The first part appears to be Latin ("_____ much"), the second is clearly German ("always the quantity"). Can anyone out there complete the translation and give some meaning to Schlitt's message?
