| The idea expressed here is that "a good beer is a good comrade" on this Jugendstil (youth style = modern art) stein ca. early 1900's. Note the use of "v" as a "u" which is a hangover from Latin which came from Greek. In the original Greek the "v" was pronounced like we pronounce "v", but in Latin, the "v" was used and pronounced like we pronounce "u". | |
