~ Der Liebe nicht jedes gelingt ~
The verse is self-explanatory and relates to Homer's Odyssey wherein Odysseus is hosted by King Alkinoos during his 10-year journey thru the Mediterranean. The blue/gray, salt-glazed stein was probably made by Hanke, designed by Julius Diez and marked "2388 13", ca. early 1900's.
Der Liebe nicht jedes gelingt, der Durst aber alles bezwingt. |
Love does not always succeed, but thirst overcomes all. |
