Here's one of the most famous and treasured etched Mettlach steins mold number
2382 dated 1907. This is the larger 1 L. version and more sought after than
the 1/2 L. The scenes show the Knight arriving at an inn (castle) late and
pounding on the door; upon gaining entry, he pours himself some beer while
his dog keeps the innkeeper at bay; then he rides off into the moonlit night
satisfied with his conquest. The German word "Ritter" translates to "rider",
but in those days if you had a horse and armor, you were in fact a "knight".
