| The Deutsches Turnfest is associated with the Turnverein (Gymnastics Association) founded by Friedrich Ludwig Jahn in the early 19th Century. The four "F"s, laid back to back and top to top on the steins below are a symbol of this organization. (See the translations of "Gut Heil" for more information.) Yearly competitions were held through out Germany and usually commemorated with a stein. The two steins below are from the 13th competition held in 1923 in Munich. | |
