~ Er aber, sag's ihm ~
The saying on this stein is quoted from Goethe's play entitled "Götz von Berlichingen" whose name became a euphemism for this saying. Also known as "Götz of the Iron Hand", he was a real German Knight who was very head strong, fought many battles and gained an infamous reputation. The saying came from his resistance to a siege at his castle at Jagthausen where he died at age 82. The stein was made for the 500-year Jubilee of his birth in 1480 and is dated 1980.
Er aber, sag's ihm,
er kann mich am Arsch lecken!
But he, tell him that,
he can kiss my ass!
