~ Er aber, sag's ihm ~ | |
The saying on this stein is quoted from Goethe's play entitled "Götz von Berlichingen" whose name became a euphemism for this saying. Also known as "Götz of the Iron Hand", he was a real German Knight who was very head strong, fought many battles and gained an infamous reputation. The saying came from his resistance to a siege at his castle at Jagthausen where he died at age 82. The stein was made for the 500-year Jubilee of his birth in 1480 and is dated 1980. | |
Er aber, sag's ihm, er kann mich am Arsch lecken! |
But he, tell him that, he can kiss my ass! |
