~ Hast du Kater ist in ein Rath ~
|
|
There's a little poetic license in this verse and I've probably tried it,
but couldn't tell you if it indeed works. Kater (cat) is the symbol for a hangover.
The stein is marked with the Merkelbach & Wick logo and probably dates to the 1870's
because there is no capacity mark on it. Metric system capacity marks were not
adopted in Germany until about 1875 and it took a few years to comply.

Hast du Kater ist in ein Rath:
Trinke früh was du trankst spat.

(When) you have a hangover, there is a rule:
Drink early what you drank last night.
