This little verse rhymes in both German and English to present reasons for
drinking in winter and spring, but doesn't say anything about the rest of the year.
This is a large relief pottery pouring stein impressed "150 5", ca. early 1900's.

aus Freude daß der Frühling nah ist
und kommt der Frühling trinke wieder
aus Freude daß er endlich da ist.

In winter I drink and sing songs
out of joy that spring is near
and when spring comes I drink again
out of joy that it is finally here.
