~ Mag manche Wahrheit hinken ~
Here are some gems of wisdom on this porcelain stein with a colored lithophane base, ca. 1900. A lithophane is a scene made by varying the thickness of the porcelain that can be seen when held up to light. The coloring of lithophanes is similar to tinting of old photographic prints.
Mag manche Wahrheit hinken.
die da hat Recht und Fug.

Zuviel kann man wohl trinken
doch trinkt man nie genug
Many truths might be imperfect
that are fully correct.

One can drink a lot,
but one can never drink enough.
