"Prosit" (often abbreviated as "Prost") is a German word that means the same
as "toast" or "cheers", but is from the Latin words "pro sit"
(cognitative: "for situation or being"). This etched Mettlach stein
is mold #2100 (ca. 1900) designed by Heinrich Schlitt and represents
the time of the Roman occupation of Germania and the exchange of culture
and ideas. Here is an early German introducing a skeptical Roman Centurion
to beer in a stein (not yet invented) in return for the gift of wine,
the nectar of the gods.
