This verse is about living moderately and conserving money which is a way to survive, but all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. The verse is transcribed as written on the stein and contains a little dialect from Alsace-Lorraine and possibly spelling errors. The small, blue/gray, salt-glazed stein is ca. late 1800's and the size reflects the conservatism. | |
