This is a Latin phrase seen on most German steins associated with student
organizations and given as a gift from one classmate to another at the end
of a semester or upon graduation. The first letter of each word in the phrase, "V C F",
are incorporated into the
Zirkel (circle - the script seen in the center of the emblem which is the
signature of the student organization). Under the emblem is the dedication
of student "H. Binroth to his dear friend & classmate R. Arnecke". The
stein is ca. 1900.
