This verse refers to an event in Nine-Pins (Skittles), the European version and precursor of our ten-pin bowling. The unmarked stein without lid is probably by Marzi & Remy, ca. 1900.
Wenn 8 Keile rings - umfallen, der König nur mehr steht allein, Ein Kranz! - Der muß vor Allen, das frohe Keglerherz erfreu'n.	When 8 pins have fallen around, (and) only the kingpin stands alone, A wreath! - It must before all, give joy to the merry bowler's heart.
