The verse as it appears on this huge, etched Mettlach stein seems a little lacking and I think the scene tells that women and wine are a better pastime than the wilderness and forest. The stein is marked with the Mettlach logo and form number 2205, ca. 1900.
"Hallali" that appears on the front top of the stein is a hunting cry that goes with the hunting motif.
