~ Für Freiheit und Recht ~
This transfer and painted stein is marked "M&R over H" in a square (Marzi and Remy -- Höhr), ca. 1890 to 1900 (see: Chris Wheeler's "Stein Marks"). The verse is representative of the socialist movement in Germany in that period. The socialist and related movements were shut down by Adolph Hitler when he came to power in 1933. The decorator mixed up the colors on the German flag (most likely on purpose and in defiance). The colors should have been Schwarz, Weiß, Rot (Black, White, Red) in that order from top to bottom in use from 1871 to 1918.
