This is a German student society stein as indicated by the proclamation:
"Normannia sei's Panier!" (Normannia is our banner!). The crest on the lid is that of
Corps Normannia Berlin, founded 3 Feb 1842.
As noted on the underside of the lid, the stein was given by
corps member "Herta" to his friend "Edmund" in December of 1932, and decorated by the firm of Hermann
Zimmer of Berlin in December 1932 (see: Chris
Wheeler's "Stein Marks"). The association motto is written below the crest and
translated below.
