These steins were purchased by members of Germany's volunteer labor
service units in the early 1930's which were very similar to the WPA
(Works Progress Administration) in the USA a little later in the 1930's.
This was a time right after the Great Depression following the
Stock Market crash of 1929 when many were out of work and could
volunteer to be employed for government work projects.
These steins were marked with the Gerz logo and are from the period of the 1930's.
Two of the steins shown below also list the town of service.
