|~ Zürnend klingt in die Ohren ~|
|This is one of a small series of etched, Mettlach steins with verses extracted from Viktor von Scheffel's "Trompeter von Säckingen" (Trumpeter from Säckingen). This stein was designed by F. Stuck and is marked with the Mettlach logo and mold number 2007 and dated 1902. The front has the likeness of the cat "Hiddigeigei" and the lid shows "der Freiherr" (the Baron).|
Zürnend klingt in die Ohren
Rettet euch, unsel'ge Thoren,
vor der Nüchternheit Umgarnung.
Ringing angrily in your ears
is Hiddigeigei's ghostly warning:
Save yourselves, unholy fools,
from the entrapping sobriety.
