waltThe white overlay is not porcelain, that would not be possible. Instead, it is white enamel which has been painted on. This can be seen at the upper and lower handle scenes in the side views. I’m unsure about how the scene was created. My first thought was that it was painted, but the backlit scene seems to show some transparency in the decoration. I don’t believe this stein holds much appeal for collectors, its value is more as a decorative item. It’s value has almost certainly declined since it was first issued.

Michael MeadeHello and thankyou, I was always under the impression that the glass was dipped in porcelain and the scene was etched or engraved thru the outer layer of paint or porcelain , not sure which…?
