DmytroHello everybody! I can not identify the mug. There are no brands. However, the seller claims that the mug was made in the 19th century. Please help with the identification and the date of manufacture. Thank you

RonDmytro,
1. Mettlach is the only firm that identified a year of manufacture.
2. Except for some porcelain character steins, like Bohne and Schierholz, I am not aware of old porcelain catalogs by manufacturer.
3. You might date a mold by the number, but the stein could have been made any date thereafter.
4. You might be able to say circa 1900, but you can’t say if it was before or after 1900. -
Dmytro – your stein looks similar to a couple of porcelain steins I have.
The ones I have were by Ernst Dorfner & Co. Which manufactured from 1889 -1913.

RonSteve,
Liselotte Lopez did an article on Dorfner’s Steingut Steins in the September 1974 isssue of Spinning Wheel. She doesn’t mention anything about porcelain steins. Do your porcelain steins have the “GD” or “EDC” marks?

Ron –
Sorry for the delay. Mine do not but they have lithophane. Steinmarks website does show porcelain.
