GinnyThis stein was in my great grandmothers house – no idea who’s it was or where they got it. Can anyone help me identifying it’s value or the makers? The lid is most definitely pewter (underside of lid is very light in color. Crest stamped on bottom with number below crest. I’m not sure if the link to these photos will work – if not anyone have ideas how to attach them?

RonGinny,
The February 2018 Featured stein gives a little bit more information on this mark see http://stein-collectors.org/steinmo/2018/02Feb/201802.html. Rather than a mark of the Reinhold Hanke firm, it was an award they received. I suspect it might only appear on wares that were displayed when the award was given to them. I don’t think your stein was made in 1876, but rather was designed in that time frame. Your stein is a relief stein with limited color and probably dates from circa 1900. The scene displays revelers and possibly is based on a painting. Reinhold Hanke was noted for his Historismus wares.

Ginny, the stein was made by Reinhold Hanke, and is valued at $50-70 on the Beer Stein Library. I had never seen the mark before, but SteinMarks dates it around 1876.
