Mettlach stein has very small area of wear to the clear, transparent, paper-thin glaze on the tip of the intricate handle. Paint and stoneware are not damaged or flaked—-just the clear coat. My guess is that this is not a factory flaw but just happened from gentle handling and friction over the last 120 years and is quite common. Would this concern you as a buyer or am I being too picky??

It can’t be seen in a photo. It can only be seen under high magnification.

Rob, many Mettlach collectors would never buy one that is not in mint condition. Others of us will overlook a minor problem, but the price needs to be appropriately reduced. Without knowing the form number (and design number if it’s a PUG) it is impossible to know what the mint cost would be. At any rate, you might need to be 20% off. All of this is just hypothetical.
