RonMelissa,
We need more information than that to help you. Do you have a photo? Does the stein have a mold number or a maker’s mark on the bottom? Is there a German verse on the stein?
-
MelissaCan you view the pictures from the website link I included?

RonMelissa,

RonMelissa,
Your stein was made by Werner Corzelius, a post-WWII firm. You can contact them at http://www.corzelius-keramik.de/. Steinmarks.uk has more information on the firm at http://www.steinmarks.co.uk/pages/pv.asp?p=stein344.
The German verse on the stein is “Wer diesen humpen leeren kann das ist fürwahr ein braver Mann” which translates to “Anyone who can empty this stein is a good man.” This 12 L stein is still produced by Werner Corzelius (mold 1110) and has a detachable ceramic lid showing a gnome on it. If you contact them, they may be able to send you another lid. The scene is from a Defregger painting per their catalog, but I am not familiar with it.

MelissaThis is so helpful. Thank you!

MelissaRon- Have you had any luck reaching out to this company in the past? I’m not having any response so far. Thanks so much!

RonMelissa,
They recently sent me the catalog pages on their large steins. Ask them if they can direct you to a retail seller that might help you get the lid. -
RonMelissa,
I should have checked their web site. They do not sell direct so they only reply to resellers. They answered me because I was writing an article. Try asking them to direct you to a dealer near you.

FrancatanMelissa,
just to tell you that following Ron’s advice, I mailed to Werner Corzelius asking to direct me to a reseller and they answered that don’t have any.
-
MelissaRon- do you have a picture of the gnome lid from the catalog you can share?
Thank you!
-
RonNekussa,
I will get back to you early next week.
-
RonMelissa,
The page they sent me is small and dark. It wouldn’s do you much good, certainly it would not provide enough detail to have someone try to make one for you. I did find an old listing on
Worthpoint that shows a little more of the lid. See https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/werner-corzelius-large-31-west-2006598344.I also sent an e-mail to WC on your behalf. Hopefully they will reply.

RonMelissa,
Good news. I just received an e-mail from Werner Corzelius saying they can send a gnome lid to a woman in Geneva, IL. I presume that is you. I feel it is going to be a very Merry Christmas.

FrancatanRon,
can you tell me the email address of the Werner Corzelius that are going to send a gnome lid to Melissa? I’d like to ask them if they have a 12L stein to sell me. At the email address that I found on the web site and I mailed them they answered to me that they don’t know any retailer.
Thank you
-
MelissaThank you for all your help!
I’m hoping to receive the lid soon!! It’s currently in transit. This is the email address I’ve been communicating with them. info@corzelius-keramik.deI hope this helps!
