    Hi Guys

My wife got me a stein from a thrift store for $25 AU

I am wondering what year it was made and how much it might be worth.

    Sticker on bottom — [GERZ W.Germany] (So made between 1949 – 1990)
    Abschied (Farewell)
IN FREUD UND LEID TRINK ALLEZEIT. (In Joy and Suffering Always Drink)

Found one that looks the same as mine for sale for AU$143.49

But it doesn’t have the same underneath (see last image on that listing)
Mine has sticker for W.GERMANY whereas that listing has two stamps embedded. Mine has no embedded stamps, just the GERZ. W.GERMANY sticker

    SpearRaven,
You answered your own question on when the stein was made. There are currently about 60 Gerz West German steins recently sold on ebay. About2/3’s of them sold for less than $25 dollars, which should give you and indication of your stein’s value. The sold stein the you found was made before Germany was identified as W.Germany and hence the higher sales price.

    Thanks John
I will clean it up and then drink from it.

I have a stoneware cobalt blue stein. It doesn’t say made in Germany. It only has a stamped monogram with the letters GMH. It also has a 2 stamped on it. Is it German?

Additionally, the information you provided is of very little use in identifying your stein or providing any information. A picture is worth 1000 words.

    Hi,

I bought this German beer stein and am having trouble identifying it. The lid says DBGM 53. It has a castle on one side, a church on another, and cabin. It has a phrase on the side that says, Roln am Rhein Gom.
