    Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me identify this stein.

It doesn’t appear that there are any markings on the bottom. There are some lines that are engraved on the bottom but I don’t know if they mean anything.

On the lid there is an engraving that reads: 4. Oktober 1874

    Jared,

That is an oak leaf from Germany’s national tree. I don’t know the significance of the date or manufacturer. It could have something to do with the military.

The lines on the base have no significance. The date on the lid is reasonable for this stein. I think we are destined not to know the manufacturer of the stein or the significance of the decoration, other than that the oak leaf is a symbol of strength, which is fitting for this simple and sturdy stein.
