Thinwiebel isn’t know to be the designer of M&R 216. Can you post a photo?

It’s certainly Sächsische Glasfabrik. Is the marking .45 rather than 4.5? This eagle thumblift is also very common with glass student steins.

These steins using soft past porcelain with or without markings are all Capo di Monte style steins as the original royal factories are not known to have ever manufactured steins. Often they will feature the blue Fluer de Lis and Fluer de Lis over N markings used by the original factories but they are in fact not from those factories. The Capo di Monte style steins can be difficult to date but this appears to be a relatively modern one. The value on one like this can vary considerably. There are a couple of articles on these style steins in the Stein of the Month section on this site.

Karl,
Your first stein would fall into Diesinger’s early period (ref. Frank Loevi’s article “Identifying and Dating Diesinger Steins”). This would date it to 1890 – 1893.Randy

Clayton,
You can see the Beer Stein Library entry for this JP Thewalt stein here:
-
Gesetzlich Geschützt means that the design is copyrighted, it’s not a manufacturer.
-
It’s best for you to post photos here.
-
I’m guessing that this is an after market device added to the stein. No clue as to it’s use. The stein itself is modern.

Jason,
Could you post photos please?Randy

Another give away on this stein is the marking DBGM. This is Deutsches Bundes-Gebrauchsmuster (German Federal Registered Design). This dates it to 1949 or later. On the other hand, DRGM, which means the same except Reich instead of Federal, dates it to 1891 – 1949.

Megan,
The reason this doesn’t show up in the Beer Stein Library Gerz catalog is that modern steins (which this is) aren’t included in the catalog. Typically steins like this will go in the $30 or so range on ebay. -
I assume this post has nothing to do with the above posts. What you have is a modern Gerz. There’s no real established value as these steins hold little interest to most collectors. Even so, some are worth more than others, but I couldn’t even guess without photos. DBGM is a copyright mark.
