~ Der Stahlhelm ~
In 1918 just after WWI Germany was in chaos, the interim Weimar Republic was legally established. However many smaller organizations were also formed which circumvented the rules of the Versailles Treaty. Der Stahlhelm (the Steel Helmet) was one of these and was a paramilitary unit that was used to keep order on certain occasions. This was well before the advent of Hitler and the Nazi Party. The stein without lid is possibly of the period, Weihnachten (Holy Nights = Christmas) 1925.
