~ Der schlesische Zecher ~

This good quality stein (lid missing) has applied relief and no capacity mark consistent with manufacture in the 1850's or 1860's and possibly by Villeroy & Boch. The verse shows the first three words of a student drinking song "Der schlesische Zecher und der Teufel" (The boozer of Schleswig and the devil" with music by Karl Reissiger (ca. early 1800's) and lyrics by August Kopisch (ca. 1844). The decoration also shows the Zecher with the Teufel.
