~ Freut euch des Lebens ~

This self explanatory verse is the beginning of a very popular folk song written by Johann Martin Usteri in 1793 and put to music by Hans Georg Nägeli in 1795. The relief and etched stein is marked with the Hauber & Reuther logo and form number "453 B", ca. 1900.

Freut euch des Lebens
so lang das Lämpchen glüht.
Pflücket die Rose
ehe sie verblüht....
Enjoy life
while the little light glows.
Pluck the rose
before it wilts....
