~ Fromm, Gut und Rein trei Edelstein ~

Here are two good sayings on an etched stein marked "JWR 947 Germany" by J. W. Remy ca. 1900. Note the word "trei" = "drei" = "three" in English. The equivalence of "th", "t" and "d" are seen constantly within German and English cognates.

Fromm, Gut und Rein trei Edelstein.

Ein Trunk in ehren kann niemand verwehren.
Pious, good and pure (are) three precious stones (noble virtues).
A drink in honor can no one forbid.
