This Jugendstil (youth style = modern art) stein is marked with the Marzi & Remy logo, ca. early 1900's. The translation below is literal, and it is not clear to me what it really means. From the image on the stein, it appears that this is a visual joke of some kind. It could be a variation on the Sunday hunter theme (see translation: "Sonntag früh Wald, Jäger bald"), but I prefer to think of it as "Dufus on the meadow." If anyone has a better interpretation, please let me know through the webmaster.
