The verse is self explanatory on this blue/gray, salt-glazed, stoneware stein probably made by Hauber & Reuther but marked only "129", 1900.
O St. Salvator, heileger Mann fleh unseres reiches Kanzler an daß er mit seiner Steuerjagd uns nicht das Bier theuerer macht.	Oh Holy Savior, Holy Man beseech our rich chancellor that he in his pursuit of taxes not make beer more expensive.
