The verse on this Jugendstil (youth style = modern art) stein, ca. early 1900's, seems to indicate that when the sun goes down and gentlemen retire to the Kneip (local tavern) to contemplate things, that they will be very forgiving and thankful.
Und dem Braven ist's zu gonnen, wenn am Abend sinkt die Sonnen, dass er in sich geht und denkt, wo man einen Guten schenkt.	And the good fellow is not to begrudge, when the sun sinks in the evening, that in which he goes and thinks, where one forgives a good person.
