~ Willst du Bier, komm zu mir ~

The verse indicates that this Mettlach stein was to be made for a brewer and the thumb lift has the American eagle and shield indicating that it was being made for the American market. This stein is marked "PROBE" meaning that it was an experimental example, ca. late 1800's. As far as we know the stein did not go into production for the market. The photo resembles the likeness of Friedrich Pabst, a famous Milwaukee brewer.

Willst du Bier, komm zu mir. If you want beer, come to me.
