~ Wo der Becher klingt ~

This stoneware stein was made by White's of Utica, New York presumably by Gerrman immigrants and the verses are usually in German like this one. This stein is marked only "35" on the base and corresponds to a size since the U.S. never adopted the metric system and therefore didn't use capacity marks in liters as in Germany, ca. 1900.

Wo der Becher klingt
gefüllt mit Rebenblut,
kennt Mann kein Leid
nur Freud und Muth.
Where the stein clinks
filled with blood (juice) from the vine,
one knows no sorrow
just joy and good humour.
