~ Der Dom zu Trier ~
This Mettlach PUG (printed under glaze) stein with mold number 1526 was a special order with no decor number for the City of Trier which is about 30 miles north of the town of Mettlach. The town was used by the Romans for almost 2,000 years. The stein shows the remnants of the "Black Gate" which is one of 4 gates that guarded the city, the Cathedral, oldest church in Germany, and the Ancient Roman Imperial Palace that was used by Constantine the Great in the early 4th century.
