| This pottery, relief stein was designed by (Anton) Killian "Karl" Beuler and produced by the firm of Matthias Girmscheid ca. 1900. Bueler's initials are displayed on the lower right side of the stein. The scene would seem to indicate the couple was doing more than probing the wine. Note the cognate "probe" which means the same in German and English. | |
