This colorful pottery ewer ca. 1900 was made by Matthias Girmscheid mold number 676. The decor and verses are dedicated to Gambrinus, the King of Beer. This type of Bringkrug or Holkrug (carrying vessel) was used to fetch beer from the local brewery before refrigeration became popular.
