~ Mei Vater hoaßt Faßl ~ | |
This relatively rare Parian stein is thought to be made by Villeroy & Boch at Mettlach, ca. 1862, and has been seen with the number 728. The scene is a copy of one of the Ludwig Foltz II's VBM #328 steins. The verse is in Bayerisch (Bavarian) dialect and is self explanatory. The scene shows Gambrinus laying over a barrel filling up Ludwig Foltz's designed "walking steins" which are perhaps implied to be the offspring of the barrel. See: Prosit 6/2010 pp. 6-11. | |
