~ wie man Preussen frisst ~
This is an interesting glass stein with a porcelain inlaid lid that is very political
in nature about and dating to the Franco-Prussian War of 1871.
The Gramont family was
an old noble family of France and apparently very angered by the Prussian aggression to
defeat France and gain control of the Alsace/Lorraine. The outcome tho was more like
the Prussians eating the French.
The Duke Gramont was Antoine-Agénor-Alfred, 10th Duc de Gramonte, (1819-1880), a French diplomat and statesman whose belligerent attitudes as foreign minister in 1870 helped push France into a disastrous war with Prussia.
