~ A Humorous Münchner Kindl Stein ~

This cute half-liter saltglazed and enameled stein starts off innocently enough, with a gentleman enjoying a cigar and a beer from his Hofbrauhaus Masskrug. We can only guess how long he's been sitting there to deserve the caution he's getting from the Munchner Kindl, who has risen directly from his beer stein!

The Munich Child, or Munchner Kindl, has its origins in the official seal for the city of Munich. The other two most famous symbols for this Bavarian city are the twin towers of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) and the Hofbrauhaus, whose well-known HB logo is found on many steins.

The base of this stein is unmarked and the manufacturer unknown.

Learn more about the Munich Child in an article entitled "The History of the Munich Child" in the Library.
